It’s a brand new year and you really want this year to be different. You’ve made a list of things that you want to change in your life, and goals that you want to achieve. January is filled with excitement and motivation, and then life hits you hard. Before you know it you are up to your ears in responsibilities at work, at home, or with family. Unexpected circumstances take priority, and soon those goals are just a distant memory. We have all faced this scenario at one time or another and it can be frustrating to lose sight of what we set out to do at the beginning of the year.

Here are several reasons why you should consider making a vision board to represent your goals and set yourself up for a successful year!

IT UNLOCKS THE POWER OF VISUALISATION

It’s important to write your goals down and even say them out loud, but without a vision board, you are missing out on one of the most powerful tools that can be used to attain your goals. Visualization is much more powerful in affecting your thoughts and emotions than speaking or writing. As Ralph Marston said, “Dare to visualize a world in which your most treasured dreams have become true”.

IT KEEPS YOU FOCUSED

Think of your vision board as training for your brain. Every day when you see images that represent your goals, your brain is focusing in on your priorities and you will find yourself picturing those goals multiple times throughout the day. It is also a wonderful evaluation tool. You will find yourself evaluating your progress and deciding if you are closer to reaching those goals than you were yesterday.

IT PROVIDES MOTIVATION

One of the most important reasons to have a vision board is that it provides you the motivation that you need to keep going! There will be tough days and unexpected circumstances will arise, but having a board dedicated to your personal journey will keep you motivated on those tough days and it will remind you of why you set those goals in the first place!

It’s much easier to set goals than it is to reach them, but you will find that a vision board not only represents a daily reminder of your goals, it creates a clear image of how you will feel and look when you achieve those goals. It will bring your goals to life, and keep you motivated throughout the journey
