Do you ever experience mental blocks throughout your work day? Maybe you begin to feel bored, uninspired or just plain frustrated. Chances are, your mind is begging you for a  quick break from work! Let’s take a look at five reasons why you need to take a break from work!

#1 BREAKS CHASE AWAY BOREDOM

Do you ever get bored at work? Congratulations, you’re human! We all face boredom from time to time, and before you start beating yourself up for being lazy, understand that often when you face boredom, your mind is begging you for a change of pace! Sometimes all it takes it a 15-minute walk around the block or a quick coffee break to completely change your day around and get your mind back on track!

#2 BREAKS GIVE YOU A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Your mind is constantly making connections. When you are frustrated or facing a mental block, your mind is connecting your workspace with your frustration. Try taking the weekend away and you may find an entirely new perspective to your work dilemma!

#3 BREAKS GIVE YOU A BOOST OF ENERGY

When you spend a long time in one place, whether it’s sitting at your desk or being in the same job for several years, you may find yourself tiring easil. Take a break to give yourself a boost of energy. Put your headphones in and play a song that pumps you up, maybe even while chugging some much-needed caffeine! Hey, don’t knock it until you try it!

#4 BREAKS GIVE YOU INSPIRATION

I don’t know about you, but I find that some of my best ideas come as soon as I leave an important meeting, or while driving in my car. Sometimes, my best ideas come to mind as I am falling asleep at night! The point is, a change of scenery inspires your brain. Rather than being inspired at the most inconvenient times, take breaks while you are still in the middle of your work day. You will be more likely to remember the amazing ideas that came to mind, and you will still have plenty of time to implement them while still at your place of work.

#5 BREAKS KEEP YOU FOCUSED

If you know that you will get to take a break in an hour or go on a weekend away, you will be more motivated to work hard during that time. Planning breaks keep you focused and on track throughout your working period. You will have something to look forward to, and you can even think of breaks as a reward for working hard! Once you get back to your work , you will be refreshed and ready to get back to the hustle.

Taking small breaks isn’t a sign of laziness or a lack of character. It’s a refresher for your mind and body and it can completely change your working environment around, when done in the right way. Stay focused and be 100% present while you are working. This will enable you to enjoy your small breaks knowing that they have been earned and are well-deserved!
