If you are anything like me, you dislike staring out the window of a fast moving train when you could be doing something beneficial. My commute is over an hour long and to keep myself not only entertained but being productive these are the following things I do and I think you could try them too.
#1 Think/Reflect
Some don’t get the opportunity to think about things when they wake up as it’s literally a move from bed to shower instantly. Your commute is a great time for you to reflect on the previous day and clear your head of any issues.
#2 Read
This is one of the easiest things you could do to zone out during your commute. The book could be anything from a biography, fictional , nonfictional or even a self development book. Books teach us something new everyday and as working ladies one of our top priorities is to continually keep growing regardless of what stage we may be in life.
#3 Listen & Grow
Similar to reading, podcasts are a great way to take in new information. It can be anything form interviews, life hacks or even …. I tend to think podcasts are more entertaining and engaging than readfing an actual book. Here are some great podcasts you can try.
#4 Get creative
This is a good time to doodle about those great ideas you may have, strategise, think of how you could diversify your current business or move to a new role. It’s better than staring at the lady that most probably just stepped on your toe! Eeek!
#5 Catch up with family and friends
One thing we all forget to do at times is keep up with family and friends and they are key to our lives. Your commute is an opportunity to have daily check-ins this could be by text, call, WhatsApp, whatever suits you. Most important things is that you’re communicating and staying in contact.
#6 Plan your day and your tomorrow
You may not be able to wake up and plan your day in the comfort of your bed but your commute is a great opportunity to do so. We all know when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Plan out how you’d like your day to look like and you can even go on to do the following day or week. Make notes such as what you’re going to wear, your key tasks to complete, what to eat, the list goes on.
#7 Beauty up
If you do need to dab a bit of lipstick on, fix your brows or maybe eyeliner this is a great opportunity to do so. Do this at your own risk, although most ladies seem to be quite skilled at applying makeup on a fast moving train!
How do you spend your commute?
