Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skins outermost surface. It leaves your skin radiant, younger and smooth. Many women exfoliate their faces but forget about other body parts. Bear in mind you shouldn’t do this often (once a week) to avoid breakouts.
In order not to break the bank and also have the comfort of exfoliating at home, here are some instruction how to create a homemade exfoliator.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar (helps buff away dead skin cells)
- 1 tbsp of raw honey (for added moisture)
- 1 tbsp of olive oil (maintains skin elasticity)
- 1/2 lemon citrus zest (skin brightening)
- Essential oils (Optional)
- Medium sized bowl with lid
HOW TO MAKE
Combine olive oil and honey in a bowl until they have mixed well together. Next, add the brown sugar and mix/whisk well into a medium or thick consistency depending on how you want it. Lastly, add the zest. If you feel you need to add more sugar for a better scrub then do so.
Store in an airtight container
HOW TO USE
Apply exfoliator on wet skin (gently, circular motions) with a loofah (rough textured sponge) if you have tough skin. Next, wash off with warm water and apply lotion.
