Maybe this past year didn’t turn out how you expected it to and that’s perfectly okay, because 2016 is your do-over! Use these tips to plan ahead and set yourself up for an amazingly successful year! It’s never to late to start!
1. MAKE A LIST OF YOUR 2015 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
This is for you and only you. Look back on what you’ve done this past year, and remember how much hard work went into it. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished, then get excited about surpassing that list in 2016. By the way have you rewarded yourself?!
2. REFLECT ON THE PAST YEAR
Before you dive into a new year, take time to reflect on this past year. Maybe you made some resolutions. Did you stick with them? If not, ask yourself why not. 3. WRITE A GRATITUDE LIST
Make a list of all the things from 2015 that you are grateful for. No matter how many hard days you faced, this is the list of memories that you should carry with you into the new year. Look back on this list when you are having a tough day, and let it remind you of what’s important! Why not start a gratitude bowl? Simply drop a piece of paper with something you are grateful for everyday into the bowl and at the end of 2016 read them all! Fun and good way to stay grateful!
4. MAKE YOUR 2016 RESOLUTIONS
What are your goals for yourself this year? Write down what you would like to accomplish, and be very specific! If you want to lose weight, decide how much. If you want to start working out, decide how often. Beside each resolution, write a date indicating when you plan to reach this goal. Add these dates to your calendar to be reminded of them throughout the year! Why not add this all to a vision board?
5. ORGANISE YOUR HOUSE | SPACE
An organized space is essential to an organized life. De-clutter your home and get rid of all the things you don’t need to carry with you into the new year. Having a fresh, clean home will give you a great kick start into 2016!
6. GET YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER
Your bank account probably took a hit from all the Christmas shopping and let’s not forget the mad New Year sales! Nobody wants to start a new year being utterly broke so make sure that you set aside enough money to cover your expenses each month. Also, take this time to set a budget for the new year and make a concrete plan to reach your financial goals. Read about the 101 on personal savings here.
7. TIE UP LOOSE ENDS.
Whether it’s smoothing things over with a friend or family member, paying an overdue bill, finishing your to-do list, or closing a business deal, now is the time to do it! Tie up those loose ends so that you can move forward into the year with a clean slate! Yes, it’s January … it’s never too late!
8. FIND YOUR SQUAD
Find a small group of people who you trust most, and share your 2016 goals with them! Turn to these people when the going gets tough and let them remind you of why you made these decisions. Don’t forget to support them as they reach for their goals as well! Make them your squad!
9. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE FINISH LINE
Stay focused, keep your eyes on the finish line, and envision yourself at this time next year. Picture the happiness and sense of accomplishment you will feel from meeting your goals and accomplishing what you set out to do!
