Why You Need A Morning Routine

Morning routines have been popping up all over Youtube these past few years. Every woman is putting together cinematic examples of what they do before 9 am, and they are getting millions of views, for a good reason. After watching plenty myself and hearing successful entrepreneurs, bloggers, and celebrities claiming that the morning is the secret to success, I wanted to know why.

The “Miracle” Morning

After doing my research and explicitly listening to Hal Erod (author of Miracle Morning) speak about the topic I too am convinced that the morning is so critical in creating a life that you love and finding success and happiness every day.

Why did you wake up this morning? Think about it.

Was it because you couldn’t wait to get to the gym? Or do yoga as the sun rises? Or was it because your alarm went off and if you don’t move your ass you are going to be late for work?

After listening to Hal’s speech about utilizing the morning, it was more clear to me that we cannot pull ourselves out of bed for things we are not looking forward to. That is the perfect way to set ourselves up for failure. We thrust ourselves into a bad mood when we have to drag ourselves out of a snooze to “get on” with our day.

Don’t let life pass you by

Think about your life. How amazing it is that we get to be alive and truly live each day? That is worth celebrating! I am not being a pushy optimist but trying to remind you of the simple joys of life. I sure don’t want to wake up just to go to work and come home and go back to sleep; there is so much more to it than that.

I tried implementing a morning routine into my daily life that involved a few things that I loved, to see how it could change my mood and attitude. After a few weeks, it was interesting to see how little changes made such a massive effect on my daily grind.

Don’t let your days blur together, wake up, and get your mind in the right place.

Improve How You Start Your Day

If you want to live a more meaningful life and find happiness, you need to improve how you start your day. If you ‘re going to get closer to your dreams, you need to adjust how you start your day. If you have a list of goals that you’ve been working on, and you want to achieve them but can’t figure out how, then you need to improve how you start your day.

I am stressing this because all of these significant changes happen over time, and like Hal said: “Dreams happen one day at a time.” If you can maximize your morning, you are setting yourself up for success. Try making time to do the things you love the most in the early hours of your day. Challenge yourself to bring happiness and joy into your day it will give you something to look forward to every morning.

It is so easy to say “there is always tomorrow!” and procrastinate waking up earlier, starting that journal, or going to the gym. There will always be tommorow…but what are you waiting for? Hal Erod says the single most important day of your life is today. And I couldn’t agree more!

Make your morning routine

To create your morning routine all you need to do is identify what makes you happy and what you enjoy doing, and from there incorporate those tasks into your early hours.

Set your alarm clock earlier! If you have to be at work at 9 am, and you usually wake up at 8 am, try waking up at 6:30 am. Doing so will give you plenty of time to shower, get ready, make yourself an excellent breakfast and maybe even brew a pot of tea. Then you will still have time left to read, sketch, write in your journal, get a quick workout or even meditate!

Those early morning, extra hours are yours to play with. Over time you will realize what morning practices contribute to a better you! You will look forward to your morning rituals, and you will see improvements in your daily life.
