Hairstyles play a major part in matters of fashion and looking good, specifically because of the various necklines we wear. To avoid a “missing neck” situation, we should dress in such a way that avoids “drowning” the neck. We can do this by considering our body proportion when picking out an outfit and styling ourselves.
The higher the neckline the shorter the neck might appear, which is all well and good for those who have medium/long necks. If you are on the other side of this equation, you should avoid clustering or breaking up the neck area with too many accessories or your hair. Don’t get me wrong you can wear earrings, necklaces or let your hair down whatever hair style you might have, but do this (if necessary) with moderation and consideration of your neckline. A neatly packed hair, pulled away from the neck and/or the face is advised.
TURTLE NECK
This type of neckline works best for those with small necks. It is styled best when the hair is brushed away from the face, in one direction, packed in a pony tail, up do, chignon, or a low/short cut.
ROUND NECK
The round neck is more forgiving towards multiple hairstyles and neck lengths, for those with smaller necks a pulled back hairstyle or shorter hair would give a more balanced look and polished finish to your appearance.
BOAT NECK
The boat neck is one for elegance. As it starts from the base of the neck it automatically favours those with medium to long necks. It’s a perfect neckline to depict elegance, particularly when worn with hair neatly pulled or swept away from the face to avoid crowding the neck.
V-NECK
The v-neckline creates a more relaxed look, while adding inches to the neck. It gives room for various hairstyles and neck types, and still maintains a balanced proportion.
OFF THE SHOULDER
The off the shoulder look not only allows for an effortless appearance but also creates a somewhat sliming imagine due to the shoulders. This neckline is suitable for every and any hairstyle, neck length, without throwing off proportions and maintaing balance.
So, whatever occasion, or look you are going for while getting ready, remember that hairstyles and necklines matter a lot in knowing what looks and outfit works for you while giving you that polished and clean finish without trying too hard.
