Laura Vanderkam, author of What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast (Portfolio, 2012) and What the Most Successful People Do on the Weekends (Portfolio, 2012), says successful people know that weekends are actually the secret weapon in professional success. “You need to hit Monday ready to go, to do that, you need weekends that rejuvenate you, rather than exhaust or disappoint you”
Below are 10 things successful people do on the weekends:
This is the best time to refuel yourself for the following week, there is no doubt that the week before has drained you physically and mentally. We need to be fully recharged in order to start the new week on top of our game.
This is a good time to think back on what you achieved , things you could have done better , things you could have avoided etc during the week.
PLAN THE FOLLOWING WEEK
After reflecting on how the week went, it would be a good idea to then plan out your following week, you can even go as far as sorting out your outfits ahead of time.
As the saying goes ” Health is wealth” – In order to live a healthy life, planning your meals ahead of time is very key! A good healthy body will give you the energy you need to work those long nights. Also having good health is a form of richness!
Find a way to disconnect from work, this may not be for the total weekend but for a period of time. For example, no emails while on date night with the babe or no emails until evening time. Learn and find ways to disconnect completely from work.
CATCH UP WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS
They are your support system and keeping them near is something you will need. There are benefits of surrounding yourself with people who get you, have you read our article on this?
Take time to live and have fun, this may just be you, a drink and some music! Just make sure once in a while you let your hair down (or up, however you like it!) and you party the night away! Live!
As I mentioned in point 4 ” Health is wealth” I noticed that once I am in good shape/ feeling fit I am able to jump out of bed full of energy to take the day on. You should also try and incorporate exercise into your everyday life.
A good way to network is by simply socialising , hitting the bars/lounges on a weekend where you know your target audience is likely to be! Don’t forget to have some fun while at it!
This is mainly for those who find themselves at their office desk on a daily basis. Creating beautiful things like gardening , crafting , playing music helps to release tension, stress or anything that could have built up during the week. It is also a way to enrich ones spirit.
Thanks for the reminders! I’ve already set aside time for my family but I need to get meal prepping again!
