Spice Girls, to me, have iconic status and on occasion you can find me singing along nostalgically to Wannabe. I was always a Ginger Spice fan, but post the band it has been Victoria Beckham that has gone on to dominate the celebrity world. Mother, fashion icon, philanthropist (and more) she continues to prove you can have it all. But what can we learn from her?
HANG OUT WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE
Whatever Victoria wants to do, she will choose to surround herself with the people who will not only encourage her but also assist her in that endeavour with their own credibility in that field. You are a reflection of who you spend time with so follow Victoria and choose to surround yourself with people that encourage and nurture you.
FIND YOUR ‘BAG’
Victoria quickly left singing and dancing behind her and threw herself into fashion. It took her about 5 years to start seeing any reward for her pains, but now she is a fashion icon and an extremely successful designer. Find what you love and do it; Victoria would tell you to follow your dreams.
GO EASY ON YOURSELF
The timeline from Victoria’s 2000 song ‘out of my mind’ and 2008 when she launched her first catwalk is eight years, it is a long time. Do not beat yourself up if it takes a while for you to reap the rewards of your efforts. Play the long game and know that success will come eventually – it did for Victoria.
FIND YOUR VISUAL STYLE
Victoria’s success can in part be attributed to her amazing personal brand. A lot of effort goes into her ‘look’. If you Google her, a lot of images look the same but taken on different days. Her clothing line reflects her own personal style and she has crafted an image of the Beckham’s as successful yet just a normal happy family. Find your own image and put thought into it, it could be the making of you
NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT YOUR SUNGLASSES!
From day to night, Victoria will always have them nearby when she is out being ‘papped’. They are a good anti-ager to stop you squinting and give an instant chic look wherever you are (apart from a nightclub).
Go easy on yourself is my favorite. Great list!
As someone who loves Victoria Beckham I can say with the greatest conviction that I love this post! She is such an inspiration as a business woman.
She really is!! I love her drive and her work ethics!
Yes! She is literally a fashion ICON. I mean, even when I was 7, she was the spice girl I wanted to be (even got the bob because of her lol).
Hahaha I must admit I also got that bob 🙂 Funnily enough back then she ws the least popular and look at her now!
Play the long game! love it.
