Spontaneity is fun, isn’t it? When it comes to hanging out with your girlfriends or going on a date, being spontaneous is a blast! Sometimes it feels great to just go with the flow, be care-free, and throw the plans out the window. Wouldn’t it be great if we could live like that all the time? Imagine if your career goals were met by accident, you reached your goal body weight by chance, or your savings account just happened to reach the exact amount you need for a down payment for your new house! Although it’s fun to dream about, we know that it’s unrealistic and that planning is essential for success in certain areas of our lives.
Let’s look at three areas of life that require planning.
1. CAREER
We’ve all heard the typical interview question, “Where do you see yourself five years from now?”, but how often do you ask it to yourself? Envision where you want to be in your career, and make a plan to get there! Plan for the education, experience, and time that you will need to reach your career goals and then get busy working towards those goals!
2. FINANACES
Financial planning is extremely important! Do you ever wonder how you blow through your paycheck so quickly? You probably didn’t have a plan for that money, and before you knew it, it was gone. Every time you receive a paycheck, plan where that money is going to go. Budget for your bills, food, gas, and don’t forget about an emergency savings fund! Do you want to purchase a car or house in the next year? Plan how much you will need to set aside each month to have enough money saved up for your down payment. You will love the feeling of being in control of your finances!
3. HEALTH
Many of us say that we need to lose weight or get in shape, but get frustrated because it never seems to happen. Make a plan and stick to it! Set your goal and plan each week what your meals will be, how much water you will need to drink, and what days of the week you can make time for a workout. It will all be worth it when you reach your goals!
While there is a time and place to be spontaneous, most areas of our lives require planning. Take control of these areas of your life by setting a detailed plan to reach your goals.
