All women know exactly what they want in some sense; it just might not be in reach. Whether you’re shy, indecisive, lacking confidence, or living in someone else’s shadow, you’ve got your sights set on something: there’s just a block in the road. For this, we’ve created 5 steps to take down the roadblock and show the world who’s boss!

1. Go With Your Gut

When the time comes to make a decision, whether it be big or small, your head can tell you one thing while your gut says another. If you know right away what you want to decide, follow through! Second guessing yourself not only goes against your natural instinct, but it leads to unnecessary stress and wasted time. As Selena Gomez would say, “the heart (or in this case, the gut) wants what it wants”.

2. Don’t Worry About What Others Think

The worry of what other people are thinking can often get in the way of making the right decision. It’s easy to worry about whether or not you’ll be judged based on your choices. When it comes down to it, chances are people aren’t being as judgmental as we may think. Everyone has their own problems to worry about, so they don’t have time to spend worrying about yours. Always remind yourself that at the end of the day, the only one you need to worry about is yourself.

3. Set Goals

You know what you want: it’s the light at the end of the tunnel. If that tunnel is still pretty lengthy, it might be helpful to give yourself some goals to make that light get bigger and bigger. These goals may be small, such as ‘start taking the stairs more’ or ‘cut back on drinking soda’, or they might be ‘get a promotion by age 30’. Setting goals are important on the road to being a successful woman, and each success gives a boost of confidence for the next one.

4. Stay Motivated

There are days when everything will seem to be going in the wrong direction—but the only thing to do in this scenario is to stay positive. Confidence is key! The more confidence you instill within yourself, the more motivated you’ll become. Before you know it, you’ll be a positivity-radiating professional who never gives up.

5. Don’t Let People Walk All Over You

Whatever you do, whatever circumstance you may face, never let anyone get in the way of the direction you’re headed. Own it. If someone is trying to ruin an opportunity for you to succeed, it’s time to ask yourself ‘are they really my friend?’ You’re the only one who can choose who plays an important role in your life, and who needs to be let go of. The world is at your feet, so it’s time to show everyone what you’re made of!

What makes you a woman who knows what she wants?
